Special Dogs Currently Available

The majority of rescue Welsh Terriers never make it to this page. Why?? Because people with an application already on file are matched with the particular needs of the dog, and are contacted directly by a WTCARES volunteer.

If you would like to be considered for a WT who comes into our program, you should have an application on file with the CARES contact closest to you.

Butler, a neutered male, is going to be four years old in July.  His owners have 3 children, all very young and Butler gets along great with all of them, and believe me they have pushed him to his limits as tots are prone to do!  Sadly, the owners were given advice that has caused him to be reactive on a few occasions with people entering his yard -- an electric fence may have caused this.  He does well with dogs he knows, but has not been given the chance to walk the neighborhood and meet other people or new dogs due to the family's busy schedule.

The owners love him very much as do the children.  But they don't have the time to walk him or give him the attention he needs and deserves.  Heart wrenching as it is, they know they owe him a more enriched life.

I would like to place him in the area (Texas and bordering states), and would prefer Terrier savvy owners.  Please send an application and, once I have your application, feel free to email or call.  You would be responsible for his transportation (driving).  I will not return any calls without an application.

Dylan -- Where do you start with 12 years of memories.  Dylan is a 12 year old pure bred Welsh Terrier.   He has a wonderful endearing temperament with people. He is very affectionate and content to lay by your side for hours. However he doesn't like other dogs and he doesn't care much for cats either.

Despite getting on in years he continues to show patience and congeniality towards children. He is still full of friskiness and life, though he gets up a little slowly because of minor arthritis in his hind quarters.

The apartment where my wife and I now reside  won't allow pets (believe me, I've tried). So we have to sadly part from Dylan.  He is a cherished pet and I know if you let him into your home and heart he'll be a blessing to you too.   Dylan would prefer his new home to be in upstate New York.

Taffy was the queen of her universe for the first 12 years of her life.   She likes things HER way!  Don’t move her bed, don’t move her water dish; she likes things just a certain way.  She is personality plus!

She likes her cookies and will “give me your left” and “give me your right” to get them.   Taffy loves to play fetch and she especially loves her walks.  Oh, and she really enjoys a good DIG now and then! She’s not shy about barking at you to let you know you’ve done something wrong.

Taffy’s previous owner is battling cancer and sadly feels  it’s time to find Taffy a new home.  Taffy has dry-eye and requires daily eye ointment; she also has elevated liver enzymes for which she takes a supplement.   She has suffered from pancreatitis in the past, but she is doing well on her special low-fat diet.

Taffy is getting along great with her foster family of 4 other Welshies.  Having been the only dog for 12 years, and having such a strong personality, other dogs will be a consideration.

If you are interested in providing a new throne for Taffy email your application to Cindy Camp, campwtz@att.net.

Marlin -- This Wily Welshman has been holding his own with a pack of Yorkies for a couple of months. At first they tried to dart between his long legs to pinch his food, but he gently reminded them just once that that wasn't acceptable, so they leave him eat in peace now!

Marlin is a sweet old man of 15 years, full of fun, in excellent health, and right there to greet his foster mom with joyous little jumps when she comes through the door after work. He has freshly cleaned teeth, a good appetite, and loves to lounge in front of the fireplace after his evening

meal and walk around the block. He knows how the fire should be laid, and eagerly supervises placement of each stick of wood.

Marlin also likes to cuddle on the couch with the Yorkies when they are quiet, but doesn't like being disturbed while napping. He prefers to sleep on the people bed, but again, being disturbed by a pack of little Yorkies makes him a bit grumpy, so he sleeps in his own bed and comes in after his morning wee to say hello and get a snuggle and rubdown before breakfast. If you think your household and lifestyle might suit Marlin in his golden years, send an email to WrenYorkieRescue@aol.com asking for an adoption application.
